Shelter easing the burdens of displacement – WATAN

Shelter easing the burdens of displacement

In light of the deteriorating health and living conditions, WATAN seeks to solve all the problems related to sheltering poor families in northern Syria, as shelter is a vital means of survival during crises. From this point of view, WATAN, in cooperation with the UNHCR, distributes shelter baskets and tents with their installation and inspection in the governorates of Aleppo and Idlib, where the project aims to distribute basic shelter materials for displaced families suffering from harsh conditions of displacement, which numbers to 32,500 baskets, 19,500 tents, and 16,000 flooring for tents.

From the launch of the project until August, the distribution of 25,000 emergency baskets was completed, in addition to the installation of 12,183 tents and the flooring of 6000 family tents. The project is scheduled to be completed at the end of this year, and is in its final stages. The project was able to reach the planned beneficiaries and provide them services, meeting the needs of 43183 families (215915 individuals).

In the near future, the project is planned to:

  • Complete the distribution of tents within the 2021 agreements.
  • Obtain additional shipments of baskets of non-food items.
  • Complete the work of improving the sites.
  • Complete the insulation of tents before the start of winter.

WATAN is considered one of the most prominent organizations in the emergency intervention operations inside Syria and its urgent response to displacement earned it a great reputation among stakeholders.
